MakerBot has been setting the standard for desktop 3D printing, scanning, and 3D entertainment since its formation in 2009. MakerBot’s Replicator line of desktop 3D printers uses fused deposition modeling to form detailed 3D prints in a variety of materials.
I worked mainly with the software and firmware teams as well as a small team of other UI and UX designers. The UI/UX team is in charge of MakerBot Desktop software, the behavior of and the interface on the machines themselves, iOS and Android apps, and Thingiverse. I served as the UX lead for the firmware team, working on printer and scanner behaviors and interfaces. I was also responsible for conducting research across MakerBot’s products, analyzing and presenting findings, and utilizing findings to make changes to products.
Due to NDA restrictions, I am unable to put much of my work online. Further information and samples are available upon request.
